During your luxury Mekong River voyage, local experts and historians will come aboard to deliver fascinating lectures that you’re able to attend as you choose. Learn about the golden age of Cambodia during the Angkor period, which will enrich your appreciation of the fabled temples of the ancient Khmer empire. Local customs, beliefs and traditions are also unearthed, adding valuable commentary to the places you’ll visit.

Magical Musical Performances On Board:
On selected evenings, the Le Salon Lounge & Bar converts into an atmospheric theatre that hosts a diverse program of musical entertainment that offers an amazing glimpse into the cultures of the region as Dong Ca Tai Tu – Vietnamese Folk Songs or Apsara Dance. Throughout the entire cruise, a pianist will be quietly playing soothing local music as well as some old favourites.

Traditional & Interactive Evening of Khmer Dance:
During an entertaining evening of song and dance, you’ll enjoy a traditional Khmer folk performance and listen to a range of charming music that’s local to the Mekong region. The folk dancers wear clothes of the people they are portraying, such as Chams, hill tribes, farmers, and peasants. This evening is all about you getting involved – you can even join in the dance if you wish.

Cooking Class & Fruit-carving Demonstration:
Decorative food is a very important part of Vietnamese food culture, as presentation is all-important. Onboard, enjoy a detailed fruit-carving demonstration by the ship’s executive chef, and delight in the secrets of making the region’s most famous delicacy – Vietnamese Spring Rolls.

With a cuisine as diverse as the region, the Mekong Navigator will redefine the culinary standards on the rivers of Southeast Asia.
Our Master Chef Jorg Penneke, a renowned culinary expert who has served guests aboard many of the 5-star river and ocean lines of the world, is honored to bring his wealth of expertise to our guests. Chef Penneke has innovatively created a menu which highlights the French-lndochine inspired cuisine of the region, as well as Western favorites that will be reflected in sumptuous buffets and artfully prepared, multi-course dinners. Guests will also enjoy specially chosen, complimentary, house wines during dinner. The culinary team will offer an occasional shopping excursion to local markets, taking every opportunity to utilize the fresh, local fruits and vegetables throughout the voyage.
You will also be invited to join a hands-on culinary experience: learn how to make Pho, a traditional Vietnamese noodle soup; or Cambodia's national dish, Amok, a mild, curried fish prepared in coconut milk and steamed in banana leaves.

Vegetarian dishes are also offered – please feel free to consult our executive chef. Our meals comprise of mostly locally purchased products (such as exotic fruit, organic vegetables, fish and prawns) to give you a real taste of the lands you journey through. Special diets may be catered for with advance notice.

Excursions are led by expert guides, and guests are divided into three groups, guaranteeing there are never more than 22 passengers touring together. Electronic listening devices are complimentary to all guests in order to ensure that guests are able to hear their guides, even in crowded areas.
